TIDC Announces FY 2020 Indigent Defense Improvement Grant Opportunities

The Texas Indigent Defense Commission announces the availability of grant funds for Texas counties for new programs to improve indigent defense services.  The Indigent Defense Improvement Grant Program is separate from any formula grant counties may be eligible to receive. Please read the Request for Applications (RFA) which provides information and instructions on the application process.

The application process is competitive and most grants require county matching funds. See the RFA for full details on single and multi-year grant policies. The application process has two steps.  First, counties must submit a brief Intent to Submit Application (ISA) by March 11th, 2019.  Proposals that meet program requirements will be invited to submit a full grant proposal by May 10, 2019. Funding decisions will be made in June 2019 for programs commencing in October 2019.
